Session Three: Week four training for white collar boxing with only 2 and a half weeks I still feel as if I'm only starting out.

With week four of my training completed I still feel sometimes as I would be starting from scratch. This boxing experience definitely increased my respect for boxing in general. On the other side I know that I will never take this sport up as a hobby. It is great for fitness, but I could just not see myself in it for long-term. This might also be connected with the fact that I’m getting easily distracted – might be okay during a rugby game for a few seconds, in the ring that will be the moment when my opponent starts beating me up.

We are still going through moves that we learned in the beginning like jab, uppercut and hook and the focus is on practicing our defence.

But it all becomes more realistic, the sparring started and we are building up to the two minute rounds. I am very sure at this stage that these six minutes will be one of the longest ones in my life. I feel I’m started the process of preparing myself mentally – but most importantly, how I will deal with all the excitement.

Another great fact about this all is the support that you get from friends and colleagues around you – they have shown not only their genuine support but their excitement about my whole training and my progression. That is amazing and gives a big push to do better as well!

Only 2 ½ weeks to go!
