SQL Developer


We are looking for a SQL Developer for a initial 6 months contract for our client a leading outsourcing company.

This are some details about the project:

You will work with the existing SQL Development Team to migrate the existing SAP/Sybase and/or Oracle database environment to Microsoft SQL Server. The day to day duties will also involve working within the team to deliver business processes in a new database environment, programming SQL Server stored procedures, conducting peer- reviews of SQL code, developing test cases and advising on SQL best practices and standards.

The successful candidate will be reporting to a member of the in-house database management team and will act as a mentor in providing knowledge transfer to the team.

Your responsibilities will be:     

  • Migrate current database objects (tables, procedures, triggers, etc.) from SAP/Sybase and Oracle to MS SQL Server
  • Build efficient and performant SQL code in MS SQL Server
  • Conduct peer-reviews on SQL code
  • Develop test cases to validate and test business functionality
  • Review and report on progress of assigned projects to Technology team managers
  • Attend, and contribute to, technical team meetings
  • Review and assist in the development of SQL programming standards and good practices
  • Knowledge transfer to CSO database development staff

It is very important you have experience with:

  • programming experience using MS SQL Server and Stored procedures
  • migration experience from SAP/Sybase and Oracle to SQL Server
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • analytical and problem-solving skills
  • knowledge of SQL Server Database Administration – backups, log shipping and performance monitoring
  • support in a production database environment
  • knowledge of Agile development methodologies
  • knowledge of software version tools, in particular SVN

And this are some Mandatory Requirements     

  • 4 years full-time experience as a developer with MS SQL Server and programming stored procedures
  • 2 years’ experience of migrating databases from SAP/Sybase and Oracle to SQL Server
