Quality Assurance Engineer – WS Data Engineering

Location – Citywest Dublin
 

With general direction from the QA lead,  the QA Engineer is responsible for oversight and delivery of Quality Assurance & Testing of software applications in order to support the installation of high quality software products into the Fidelity production environment.  The Workplace Solutions QA team is seeking candidates to fill a position within our Data Engineering team.

This role will be part of an agile team and will involve analysis of user stories. Testing is focused on ensuring that projects and products meet system quality standards by planning, designing, automating and executing the appropriate test cases. This includes developing and executing automation strategies, mining and manipulating test data, scripting and executing test cases, front-line triage of issues found during execution, and retesting of defects through resolution.

 QA Engineers are typically assigned to multiple projects, ranging from simple to moderate complexity, or to a single project of high complexity.  QA Test Engineers are required to execute project deliverables and tasks on time and on budget while supporting high quality software delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

-Provides quality assurance of deliveries from our development team in an agile / BDD environment

-Can work with a wide range of teams across various locations and time zones

-Contributes to organizational Quality “shift-left” approach

-Work collaboratively with Dev & Business colleagues to define Gherkin acceptance criteria

-Execute tests based on acceptance criteria

-Create and execute automated tests with our standard toolset, methods, practices

-Analyse defects from manual and automated runs; work with Dev / BA to resolve as one team

-Document defects in JIRA and link these to their respective User Stories

-Build and demonstrate a deep understanding of technical business domain knowledge

-Mine and manipulate data to create test data and test cases for multiple projects

-Analyze current processes and propose recommendations for process improvements

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required

3-5 years of Software Quality Assurance or relevant experience desired

ISTQB Foundation Certification (preferred)

Exposure to QA principles, system development, and multiple project life cycle methodologies

Experience in retirement plan administration or financial services a plus

Ability to work effectively with product development and systems management

 

Skills and Knowledge

-Experience of Agile Methodology is mandatory and previous experience in Waterfall strongly desired

-Experience of BDD / TDD preferred, not essential

-Experience with Selenium Web Driver, Cucumber, Fitnesse, Git, Maven required

-ETL (Informatica) preferred, not essential

-Experience of SQL or PL/SQL strongly desired and at least one coding/scripting language should be known

-Experience with web services test tools desired (e.g. SoapUI, SOA Test)

-Experience with Jira is essential

-Solid understanding of the software development process including analysis, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution and planning

-Strong technical skills including a broad understanding of relational databases, file processing and web-enabling technologies

-Strong attention to detail demonstrated by ability to follow and develop specific, outlined and detailed procedures

-Demonstrated ability to work multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize and balance multiple tasks

-Interpersonal skills, ability to maintain good working relationships with partners

-Ability to work in a matrixed environment across multiple locations and functions
