Security Network Engineer

  1. hiring an experienced Network Engineer to join our NOC team, in this role you will work with our extremely experienced and multi-disciplinary NOC team delivering support to our major customers across multiple industries including the financial, education and public sectors.

Day to day your role will involve:

No two days in the NOC are the same but generally you will be responsible for:

- Implementation, support and maintenance of network security systems including firewalls and network infrastructure

- Establishing working relationships with our customers to understand their business requirements and aid you in delivering, and where possible enhancing our service to them.

- Resolving break/fix issues

- Patching switches, firewalls

- Client change implementations

- Reviewing performance and availability alerts and troubleshooting events raised by proactive monitors

- Project work: hardware replacements and upgrades for existing customers and implementation for brand new customers

  1. NOC currently operates 9-5.30 Monday to Friday, though some critical infrastructure deployments can only be completed out of hours. So we would require flexibility. We have a flexible working policy which will enable you to work from home or the office on days you’re not working on customer sites or data centres.

Ideally you will have the following skills/ experience:

- Installation, management and troubleshooting of switches, routers and firewalls (Preferred Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint, Juniper,)

- Hands on experience in network security technologies; Web-Proxies, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, VPN (SSL & IPsec), Routing, Switching

- Sound understanding and experience with protocols/technologies such as: TCP/IP, HTTP(S), TLS/SSL, IPSec, 802.1x

- The ability to work independently and trouble shoot issues as they arise

  1. addition to your tech skills and experience you will also have a proactive approach to work and will be skilled at managing your own workload and prioritising tasks. This is a client support role so you’ll need to have the ability to build a rapport with clients, understand and interpret their needs and communicate ideas effectively with them often while working on time sensitive projects. It would be beneficial if you also had the following skills / experience:

- Relevant years of experience in a heterogeneous network and security environment

- Relevant Network and Security certifications (CCNA, CCSA or equivalent)

- Understanding of security principles that span from network to application layers

- Technical proficiency in maintaining and operating network equipment and their associated services and applications

- Excellent communication skills written and verbal

- Technical Writing Skills

- Testing and Implementation of technical solutions

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build great relationships with your customers both internal and external

- Strong team-working skills – you’ll be working as part of the NOC team and with the rest of our managed services team

- Experience in Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, Checkpoint, or Juniper technologies an advantage

- Understanding of Microsoft products, Servers, OS, Office 365, Exchange, Active Directory an advantage

- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently

- Ability to provide on call support including out of hours
