Overview

Networking Engineer

 

Principal Accountabilities

·         Lead and deliver as part of project team new global Wide Area Network including Firewalls / security solutions, Remove Access Solution and new global Proxy solution

·         Planning and scheduling of line upgrades and collaborating with customers, Project Management and

·         Network Architect on network changes

·         Work with outsourced network provider on planning and migration to new solution

·         Configuration of VLANs and ACLs in Cisco IOS and Nexus OS

·         Comply and adhere to key support processes within an ITIL Framework

·         Performance and capacity analysis on the network lines/circuits for customers

·         Create technical documentation

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

·         Good knowledge, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, QoS , IPS/ IDS

·         Good knowledge of best practice security principles

·         Good knowledge on Proxy environment

·         Knowledge on network architecture

·         Knowledge of Project Management methodology

·         Cisco switches and ASA firewalls (CCNA minimum)

·         Configuration of VLANs and ACL’s in Cisco IOS and Nexus OS

·         Checkpoint & Juniper administration and configuring VPN’s

·         Experience working in an enterprise computing environment

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Active Directory

·         Working knowledge on Proxy environment

·         Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures

·         Knowledge of ITIL processes and practices

·         Knowledge of Project Management methodology

·         Demonstrable experience with pro-actively managing work and addressing and prioritising demands

·         Fluent in business English language - written and verbal

·         Experience in managing workload and prioritise without supervision. This includes an ability to balance multiple high priority requests Education and Qualifications

·         A recognised technical qualification (preferably in Information Technology) plus at least 5 years relevant experience

·         CCNA level minimal

·         ITIL Certification

·         Demonstrable understanding and several years’ experience of operations management requirements
