Middleware Developer - Leading Travel Company

Overview

We are currently recruiting a middleware developer on our Enterprise Service Bus Team within the Digital and Mobile Department in Dublin.  Reporting to the Middleware (ESB) Team Lead, you will develop and support solutions through all application lifecycle phases from development and into support.  
 
The Middleware Developer will have substantial software development experience on middleware platforms and work as a key member in the larger ESB software development team. You will be responsible for delivering quality software and meeting aggressive timeliness of ESB development initiatives which are the foundation for many Aer Lingus projects and ambitions. You will demonstrate superior team working and communication skills as this team member will liaise with end users and interact with other support mechanisms within the organisation. 
 
Key Responsibilities & Duties Include:

  • Operate as a valued team member within our high performing development team environment
  • Understanding of current and emergent software technologies e.g. SOA, Messaging, NoSQL Databases (MongoDB), Application Servers and ESB  
  • Collaborate with other team members on ESB solution development, bringing forth new ideas and approaches to software development
  • Have good understanding of development frameworks such as Spring
  • Expertise in Service Oriented Architecture and web service development and ability to mentor and collaborate with team mentors on all aspects of quality software development and database design
  • Willingness to perform defect analysis and resolution where required in support of production and on-going deliverables
  • Ensuring test frameworks are applied to software developed 
     
     
    To be considered for the role of Middleware Developer (ESB), candidates must meet the following: 
     
    Essential Skills Required:  
  • Previous experience as a middleware developer in a large scale software development project  
  • Java technologies including Spring Frameworks
  • Messaging or MOM experience e.g. MQ, JMS
  • Application Servers (JBoss an advantage)
  • Awareness of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and similar design techniques
  • Experience of Web Services
  • Continuous build/integration (Jenkins, Maven, Git) 
     
     

Desirable Skills:  

  • Professional IT qualification and/or proven  working experience with software development
  • Experience using ESB technologies and/or IBM products  
  • Knowledge of API Management, Service registry, Service Discovery an advantage  
  • Good knowledge of airline business processes

  • Strong communications skills, both documentary and verbal, from deep technical through to  business presentations at executive level
  •  Ability to present technical ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport
  • Provide 3 verifiable references
