IT Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all network systems are functioning & communicating properly. Systems include, servers, firewalls, routers, network switches, VPN devices and other related network systems
  • Daily network administration duties
  • Support, configure, maintain the corporate work
  • Support & administer 3rd party applications and network connections
  • Ensure network security standards, policies & regulation are properly implemented within the network environment
  • Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput and latency)
  • Maintain network connectivity of all computer workstations & servers
  • Ensure network policies, standards & procedures are developed, implemented and adhered to
  • Ensure relevant documentation is regularly updated & maintained
  • Conduct regular disaster recovery testing ensuring backup plans & documentation are up to date
  • Communicating network problems with outside support personnel i.e. vendors & technical support representatives
  • Assist with regular inventories of existing network equipment & report discrepancies to the Asset Manager
  • Comply with the Risk and Compliance frameworks, policies and procedures associated with the role.


  • Must have 6 years’ experience in relevant role
  • Possess an advanced understanding of networking protocols & procedures
  • Experience with Checkpoint Firewalls and Extreme network products
  • Knowledge of wireless networks & structure cabling
  • Experience with network switching, Internet VPN’s, network segmentation, troubleshooting & problem resolution
  • Ability to set up and configure network hardware
  • Experienced at organizing, prioritising & multitasking
  • Experience in selecting & working with 3rd party vendors
  • A strong understanding of best practices in terms of policies, standards and controls appropriate to a large financial services organization
  • Knowledge of network cloud computing (Azure) preferable
  • Background working in financial institutions preferable
  • Relevant accreditations required
