Infrastructure Engineer

Overview

Job Purpose:

The infrastructure engineer is responsible for ? Management and execution of organisational IT infrastructure ? Assist with planning and execution of all infrastructure changes ? Production support of all service requests and issues across all company applications ? Ownership and resolution of all level 3 infrastructure issues ? Maintenance and security of all infrastructure ? Customer relationship management Main tasks and responsibilities Key Performance Indicators Management and execution of organisational IT infrastructure, including planning and execution of all changes. Responsible for ensuring that all infrastructure is maintained, secured and stable in order to support the business. ? Server builds, virtualization, migrations, and support ? Microsoft cloud services (e.g. Office 365 & Azure) installation, migration, and support ? Microsoft applications (e.g. Exchange, SQL, SharePoint,) setup, migration, and support ? Network and firewall setup and support (primarily Checkpoint) ? Backup solutions setup & support ? End-user level 3 device support and troubleshooting as required ? Engage with the change process and execute on change tasks according to scope agreed ? Implement proactive support upgrades, patching and all other maintenance activities ? Assist ensuring all IT infrastructure assets are hardened, patched, secured, configured, maintained and services are kept available ? Assist with review and determination of capacity, performance and communication bandwidth requirements for systems – both on premise and cloudbased services; Evaluate solutions proposed by vendors, identifying best fit for organisation requirements ? Collaborate with other IT functions groups (Service Delivery, Technical Support, Applications, Security, etc.) in the plan, design, test activities as needed, for projects and initiatives ? Work with IT Leadership and Management to develop and execute IT Infrastructure strategy ? Undergo programmes of training and development as may be required from time to time Vendor Management ? Work with vendors to escalate, resolve and close out level 3 tickets ? Provide input to vendor relationships, account management and escalation process ? Provide regular feedback to the infrastructure manager Maintaining health of IT estate ? Execute maintenance checks and provide metrics on same ? Provide regular reports issued to management tea m ? Management of the deployment of regular approved changes or patches Risk & Audit ? Adhere to corporate risk standards; have awareness and the highest standards of corporate governance ? Assess operational risks associated day -day activities and implement risk mitigation controls as necessary ? Ensure operational risk events are reported on a timely basis and risk event actions are completed within agreed timelines ? Responsible for the implementation and achievement of all compliance and audit requirements Culture ? Is a role model in demonstrating the behaviours and culture across the organisation ? Represents company strategy and commercial decisions in a proactive and positive manner ? Leads by example, to motivate and assist with executing change across the organisation Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours Essential or Desirable Knowledge – Experience or qualifications ? Relevant third level degree qualification in IT or equivalent ? Suitable technical qualifications (such as CCNA, relevant Microsoft certifications, VMware etc) are desirable ? At least 3 years’ experience in leading IT infrastructure system administration ? Qualification in relevant frameworks or security standards desirable (e.g. ITIL, etc) Essential Desirable Essential Desirable Skills ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills Essential Behaviours ? Must be willing to travel between both the Navan and Dublin office and other territories where required ? The ability to execute on business needs and to assist in design, and development of innovative solutions ? The ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
