EMEA Ops Manager





The operations manager position directs and coordinates the day to day responsibilities of a team of technical systems administration personnel. This position is responsible for the daily management of all EMEA Data Centers and relevant services hosted at these locations including customers hosting and Cloud application hosting and the delivery of projects that require the build out of multiple infrastructure components. Responsibilities also include the following.


  • Building, managing and leading a team of highly motivated systems administrators
  • Collaborating with other IT teams and business managers to ensure the timely delivery of consistent and predictable production services
  • Managing the server environments across the region including all AWS or on-prem hosted services and applications
  • Ensuring that all regional servers and attached systems are fully patched and regularly monitored as part of maintaining the integrity and uptime requirements
  • Ensuring that backups are taken for all production systems and those systems specifically requested for backup by the business and/or service owners
  • Ensuring that server, storage and backup systems technical and knowledgebase documentation and procedures are created, updated and maintained
  • Ensuring that all server, storage, backup and their ancillary systems are tagged, tracked, documented and disposed of as part of managing the entire lifecycle of those assets
  • Ensuring that service level targets are met and at times exceed customer expectations
  • Ensuring consistent delivery of quality solutions while meeting operational deadlines
  • Performing project management activities and delivering infrastructure projects on time and on budget as per expected quality levels
  • Participating in projects providing leadership, technical guidance & direction as needed
  • Assisting with company disaster recovery planning and testing efforts for the region
  • Ensuring that team and IT goals are accomplished in a timely and cost effective basis
  • Where assigned tasks having a financial impact, ensuring those tasks are carried out in a timely fashion as part of meeting overall IT budget targets and timelines
  • Providing budget estimates for annual planning that takes into account equipment currency and the outputs of forward looking capacity planning
  • Ensuring that all established IT department processes and procedures are followed by team members e.g. change and incident management processes
  • Establishing or updating processes and procedures where needed as part of driving continuous improvements,
  • Working with technical team members, other IT teams, customers, users, and other managers to help build and implement systems and standards
  • Representing EMEA region customer needs when working with other IT teams
  • Working with regional customers to provide operation updates and reviews of service performance ensuring that issues and questions raised are tracked and actions taken
  • Ensuring that all changes made by the operations team in the production environment rigorously follow the IT change management process
  • Ensuring that production changes are made sufficiently in advance to ensure changes are planned, tested, communicated and delivered with little or no business disruption
  • When infrastructure failures occur ensuring that services are returned as fast as possible
  • Ensuring that infrastructure failures are analyzed to ascertain the true root cause(s) with appropriate actions identified and carried out to ensure similar failures are not repeated
  • Ensuring that your team tracks all assigned support, service requests and change tickets through the IT ticketing application
  • Enforcing all company policies and security practices
  • Demonstrating accountability and sees him or herself as responsible for IT meeting customer expectations
  • ITIL certified to a minimum of foundation level
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert of Server Infrastructure certification is a plus
  • Any UNIX administration certifications a plus
  • Any management certifications
  • A good understanding of “Quality” as it relates to Customer satisfaction
  • Datacenter management experience a big plus
  • Cloud datacenter infrastructure management & Automation best practices
  • Has worked in large multi-national environments that span the globe
