Digital Programme Manager

Overview

The role as a Digital Programme Manager is to manage a portfolio of projects in the Digital and Mobile Team, linked around a common technology and business theme. This means the management of the portfolio from the initial vision of the business through all stages of project implementation to production. Your role is to plan and direct the Programme portfolio so that it aligns with the strategic and delivery vision of the business and the delivery organisation.  
 
You will be a champion for best practices for managing and delivery on the portfolio roadmap, and be an ambassador for your programme throughout the technology and business organisation. You will be up-to-date in the technologies, trends and compliance / regulations associated with your portfolio, and passionate in ensuring that your teams are motivated and directed to enable the delivery of the roadmap. 
 
The success of the role will include building relationships within the technology and business teams, and communicating effectively to these teams. Building relationships with the 3rd party vendors will also be essential to ensure the best outcomes for your portfolio.  
 
Specific elements of the role include:
  • Customer Relationship Management    
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders within the  organisation and cultivating successful relationships with senior Business, IT, and Operations personal to ensure Technology is appropriately represented.
  • Provide a focal point for Digital & Mobile, acting as an escalation point where necessary and resolving issues to the mutual satisfaction of our customers and the Technology Group  Internal Stakeholder Management
  • Identify the key internal stakeholder groups and build successful working relationships to ensure Digital and Mobile present a unified interface to Technology
  • Ensure Digital and Mobile is appropriately represented in internal discussions relating to the Technology
  • Manage internal communication such that Delivery teams and internal stakeholders are provided with regular status on activities.  Acting as the internal point of escalation for all items that pertain to Digital & Mobile activities within Technology Revenue/KPI Responsibilities
  • Ensure that projects achieve financial KPIs in line with agreed project targets and company KPIs
  • Forecast accuracy for both firm and pipeline project costs, ensuring that project managers report timely and accurately
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the Project Manager and Business Analyst team Governance & Communication
  • Establish and implement strong governance across all projects and programme, with the Digital & Mobile leadership team
  • Manage internal communication, ensuring all internal stakeholders are informed, consulted as appropriate on items of relevance through the lifecycle of the project Ensure best practice around risk management, reporting (internal, external) and communication are applied

Your qualifications & key criteria:  
 
  • Relevant 3rd level qualification with a strong technical focus  
  • Excellent knowledge and proven experience of working with IT Software Development Lifecycle methodologies including Waterfall & Agile
  • Possess at least 10+ years of professional experience, with a minimum of 8 years in project or programme management
  • Experience in working with third party suppliers in the delivery of business or IT change initiatives – including experience of working with remote and co-located teams and vendors  
  • Advanced level of proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel & PowerPoint  
  • Experience of implementing projects with a budget of at least €5 million 
  • Experience leading complex transformation projects
  • A strong understanding of best practises, tools and techniques for project management and programme management with ability to continuously improve these processes
  • Acute understanding and ability to demonstrate expertise in Quality Management, Project Planning, Risk & Change management
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally at levels up to Director and C Suite, and ability to make complex technology problem simple to the business. Must be capable of understanding and communicating the “big picture”
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders and to influence stakeholders in support of project delivery
  • Robust relationship management, capable of working with all levels within the organisation by building effective relationships
  • An effective team manager with proven ability to build, motivate and support a high performing team
  • Highly motivated, driven, pragmatic and completely focused on project delivery for business benefit  
  • Strong listening, analytical, problem solving and, with close attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate conflict resolution skills – driving resolution of any project conflict
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU
 
Desirable skills: 
  • PMI/Prince 2 certification  
  • A technical background is preferred – ideally gained in consulting companies or other enterprise systems with international
  • Knowledge of IT and Digital systems, including experience of leading software development projects involving web-based, mid-range and integration platforms and applications
  • Detailed understanding of the technical architecture underpinning the IT service landscape in e-Commerce, Online Media or Information Technology & Services environments
