DevOps / Operational Excellence Engineer

A leading company in their sector based in Dublin City Centre is looking to hire a DevOps Engineer. The person will join an IT centre of Excellence in Ireland that is expanding their International Strategy within rewards industry. 

Working directly with the development teams, key responsibilities include:

  • Operational excellence improvements
  • Tools Development
  • Service improvements in the production environment
  • Service support and troubleshooting
  • Incident reduction
  • Capacity planning and scaling
  • Change management activities
  • Monitoring and metrics
  • Participate in 7x24 on-call rotation

Essential competencies / skills:

  • 2+ years overall development/technical support experience
  • 1+ years of experience leading others
  • Deep understanding of support procedures and methodologies
  • Experience with configuration management systems (working knowledge of Chef is a plus)
  • A strong understanding of web technologies
  • Proficiency in LAMP environment is a must
  • A strong understanding of HTTP caching technologies (experience with Varnish would be beneficial)
  • Experience with large database driven websites
  • A deep understanding of the Linux OS
  • A basic working knowledge of Windows Server OS and common services
  • Extensive scripting experience (e.g. Perl, Python, bash, Ruby, Windows Powershell is a plus)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Solid networking knowledge
  • Understanding of production monitoring and metrics and KPIs
  • Knowledge of Zabbix is a benefit
  • Experience with SQL scripting and MySQL would be beneficial.
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Experience in a 24/7 production environment
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, or a related field
