DevOps Engineer

Overview

Our client, financial company on the market for over 60 years, is looking for DevOps Engineer for a permanent role based in West Dublin. This role involves working within the Platform Security Operations (PSO) group and will be responsible for delivering automated solutions for existing and new products within the PSO supported environment, to contribute to organisational goals in the areas of production stability and operational efficiency.

Required Skills and Experience / Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent technology discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years IT experience including at least 3 years in a hands-on, technical role.
  • Experience using orchestration tools such as HPOO, Chef, Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, and Urban Code Deploy.
  • Experience working in a globally distributed, multi-cultural environment an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience in software development or vendor product integrations and customization.
  • Security Certification such as CISSP an advantage, although this is not necessary.
  • Experience using a broad range of scripting tools across a variety of platforms and languages, including, but not limited to: Bash, Python, PowerShell
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of the use of continuous integration tools, practices and test automation tools.
  • Experience with web server technology and an understanding of web based architectures.
  • Understanding of web server agent deployment solutions.
  • Basic understanding of protocols – TCP/IP, SSL VPN, HTTP, HTTPs, LDAP
  • Understanding of 2FA including token, certificate etc.
  • Excellent listening and analytical skills with an ability to quickly understand complex systems and architectures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate horizontally and vertically across the enterprise, in both business and technical contexts.
  • An ability to work independently with minimal supervision to bring complex projects to completion.
  • An ability to collaborate with co-located and globally distributed colleagues and partner teams to solve problems, transfer knowledge, and develop overall product architecture.
  • Knowledge of alternative SDLC methodologies.
  • Ability to work closely with teammates to solve problems, transfer knowledge, and develop overall product architecture.
  • A creative approach to seeing alternative solutions with an ability to ‘join the dots’ between multiple interconnected systems.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with a commitment to delivering solutions to consistently high levels of quality, accuracy and thoroughness.

Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Working with Operations and Engineering teams to develop an understanding of the technology and workflows owned and supported by the Enterprise CyberSecurity (ECS) business unit.
  • Analyzing existing processes and workflows to identify automation opportunities.
  • Assessing and documenting alternative automation possibilities, clearly justifying recommended solutions within the context of the supported production and non-production environments.
  • Developing new automation solutions and optimize existing ones.
  • Composing project plans and test case scenarios for each developed solution.
  • Providing transition and support documentation for Operations team as part of the production readiness review prior to production deployment.
  • Collaborating with the PSO Solutions Implementation group to identify automation opportunities prior to production deployment of new technologies.
  • Working closely with all engineering and operations groups across the enterprise to contribute to the production stability and 7/24 availability of the security products.
  • Comply with enterprise ITIL standards, with particular reference to enterprise change management processes.
  • Acting as liaison between ECS and technical or business partner groups, providing technical guidance and consulting on automation solutions.
